One of the great needs we face today is the training of parents to be intentional about passing on the faith to their children.
As a Pastor I know a faithful church life equips parents in various ways to pass on the faith to their children. For example, I certainly encourage consistent Bible reading and prayer in our homes and I speak to the subject as often as possible. Such challenges can serve to appropriately guide parents to keep the Word of God in their home life.
But how are we doing? If Christ has no place in our home life as expressed in Bible reading and prayer, then are we effectively passing on the faith to our children? In a word all parents need to be diligent about this matter.
But how? Just keep it simple and trust the power of God's word to transform the lives of children as they grow up on a steady diet of the Word of God at home, at church, and at school. The important component is to see to it a child actually hears the Word of God consistently. This means they actually grow up on it!!

Here is a resource I highly recommend. Brother Terry Mortenson of Answers in Genesis provides a thorough review of an issue becoming somewhat controversial in various Christian circles.
Of course, this is my opportunity to weigh in and quite frankly there is absolutely NO controversy about the first man Adam. Adam is the head of the human race, period.
In fact, I will go a bit further than perhaps others in saying dogmatically: if you claim to be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ and do not accept the history of Genesis 1-11 it is time for you to SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET!!
Until such time a minister has the settled conviction that the Bible's history is authoritative he is in no spiritual condition to preach the word. In fact, suggesting that Adam is not a real person of history undermines the entire gospel we are called to preach!
Reading this volume will be a help to all ministers and laymen alike. I forewarn you that at times the reading is a bit more technical in nature and you may find it laborious to get through. However, the whole volume does not read that way and in each chapter there is much to be gleaned. One thing I am sure of: reading this work will equip you to stand against the growing compromise of those who seem quite willing to give up one of the most basic tenets of the gospel.

Authors Gregory Baumer and John Cortines are new to me, but the principles set forth in their new book are certainly not! This book came to our ministry office as a complementary copy. The timing was interesting since we are currently studying the subject. With few exceptions, I do not recommend books I have not read. As I read this book I appreciated the fervent treatment of the subject of stewardship. You will profit by it should you choose to read it. For more information follow this link.
